[Opinions] Re: Zechariah / Zachariah
in reply to a message by Howie
Zachariah definitely has a cool factor. I'm not fond of Zechariah. While it may be more authentic than Zachariah, it makes me think of the word / sound / grunt "blech." So. Zachariah gmv. Zeke could work well as a nn for Zechariah. Very clever. How about Cary as a nickname for Zachariah? Or is that too "feminine" too? I can see either Zachariah or Zechariah as a brother to Cordelia. Those are parents I'd like to hang out with. I try not to think about what kind of personality X or Y would have. A name is a window into the parents' souls, not the child's. Other names you both might like:Zebulon -- Zeb
Zephaniah -- Zef
Zacarias -- Cary, ("za-cah-REE-us"), such flair
Zaccheus -- although the only nickname I can think of is Zack :0(
Nehemiah
Bartimeus -- Bart, Tim
Bartholomew -- Bart, Tolly
Melchior -- Mel, magical name
Menassah -- Manny
Ishmael -- Izzy
Joachim -- Joe, Kim
Bartolomea -- "bahr-to-lo-MAY-uh" nn Mae
Mehetabel -- a cool, witchy vibe
Casimira / Kazimira -- Mira
Zosima -- Zosi, Zoë, Mimi, "ZO-see-muh" (see: Zosimus)
Hepzibah
Raphaela
Jacobina / Jacomina -- Jackie, Coco, Mina, MinnieHappy hunting! :0)

I used to definitely like Zechariah more, but now, I can't decide. It's the Zech/blech thing versus my disliking of Zach.I'm glad people think Zeke could work though. M. doesn't like unisex names, so Cary is out. Truthfully, that particular name isn't quite my thing either. I would love for someone else to use it, just not me. Thanks for the suggestions.
