[Opinions] Violet or Autumn
I can't decide between Violet or Autumn
I think if she is born from the months July - December I would pick Autumn
And January- August, Violet but I would like feed back
Is Autumn a name that should be used solely if she is born in the fall ?
Is Violet too old fashion ?
Does anyone else think Autumn looks too close to Autism ?
I worry she will hate her name -..-

I choose Violet! I think Autumn is a pretty word but I was never crazy about it for a first name and don't know why.
I know an Autumn; her brother would sometimes call her "autism" as a joke but it wasn't like other people were doing that. I think it was a nonissue for her. Most people like her name because it is pretty and you only hear it every so often.
I choose Violet because I love the softness of it and it just stands out to me. I don't think it's old fashioned...it's definitely made a comeback.

Yeah I agree it is soft , that's a good way to explain it :)
I Much, much prefer Violet. I never cared much for Autumn and oh my god, I thought I was the only one who pointed out and though the words autumn & Autism were too close. I'm not alone!! Lol! (One reason I wouldn't use the name besides not generally caring for it and the fact that autumn has to be my least favorite season)
Anyways, the date of when your child is born should be irrelevant to the name. I knew 2 Autumn's and neither of them were born in the fall. And 1 April whose birthday landed in October.
I'd go with Violet

What if you used Autumn Violet as a combo? Pretty or cheesy?
I don't mind either name. I would just pick the one you like better and not worry about time of year.
And I don't think Autumn looks too close to Autism. Plus, I don't think Autism is a terrible word that you wouldn't want to looks too close to, necessarily.

Thanks everyone for your input !
Violet!
I love Violet. Its a beautiful color too.
I think Autumn is nicer and less dated.
I like both but I prefer Autumn. I actually think naming her Autumn if she's born in autumn is tackier than if she's not born in autumn. Although, seeing as you call it fall (and not autumn like we do here), it probably doesn't matter.
I have actually thought of Autumn as being close to Autism if I'm being honest. I haven't met anyone else who's thought it though.
If my name was either Autumn or Violet, I'd like it. Neither name are trendy or super popular, they're not misspelled. They're both feminine names that are well known but not always heard =)

I don't think the season of birth needs to have anything to do with it. The impression I get from names that suit seasons, is a reference to positive aspects of the seasons, not a literal connection between person and season.
I find Autumn to be a bit ugly said out loud, as in my accent, it's "oddum" - although it's a nice concept to use for a name, and it's namey enough. It never reminded me of "autism," but I could see how it might do that a little. It wouldn't be any worse than "violent" for Violet - another thing I've heard people associate, but that I don't think of myself. To me, the downside of Violet is the idiom "shrinking violet."
I like Violet, though, and I don't think it's too old-fashioned, nor is it at all unsuitable for a child born while the violets aren't blooming.
I should have read queenv's answer before I posted - as I've pretty much dittoed her!

Autumn is definitely not a name that should only be used for babies born in the fall. It's popular, and I can't believe only for fall babies. It's never made me think of the word "autism" and I don't think that's anything to worry about.
I prefer Violet, though. I don't find Autumn very attractive. I don't think Violet is too old fashioned.
