[Opinions] Charlie ?

Yes it can stand on it's own but I still prefer it as a nn for Charles.
I like the name Charlie but only as a nickname for Charles. Charlie is part of the trend in the UK at the moment for using nicknames as first names eg: Jamie instead of James, Freddie instead of Frederick etc. These names all sound cute on a little kid, but what about when they grow up? Can you imagine a President Charlie? I know Charles sounds a bit old fashioned but I would go with that, and just use Charlie as a nickname :-)
I think that Charlie can stand on its own, definitely. I rather dislike Charles, myself, and I think that Charlie is rather lovely. Prefer it on a boy than a girl (although I think it would make a nice nickname for Charlotte).
Not particularly good at coming up with sibsets so I'll leave that to the other board members.

It can, and often does, stand on its own- in fact, it was the twelth most common name for boys last year in England and Wales. However, I prefer it as a nn for Charles.
