[Opinions] Charlie ?
Can the name Charlie stand on its own or does it have to be a nn for Charles ? What names go with Charlie as siblings ? Thanks so much!

Yes it can stand on it's own but I still prefer it as a nn for Charles.

I love the name Charlie on a girl only. I've never liked it on a boy and I especially dislike Charles. But if you only want to use Charlie on its own then I see nothing wrong with it.

I like the name Charlie but only as a nickname for Charles. Charlie is part of the trend in the UK at the moment for using nicknames as first names eg: Jamie instead of James, Freddie instead of Frederick etc. These names all sound cute on a little kid, but what about when they grow up? Can you imagine a President Charlie? I know Charles sounds a bit old fashioned but I would go with that, and just use Charlie as a nickname :-)

I like Charlie as a stand alone name. One of my neighbours grandson's is called Charlie, as a stand alone name. I know a girl named Charlie as a stand alone as well (i think she spells it Charley but, but i like both just as much)

I think that Charlie can stand on its own, definitely. I rather dislike Charles, myself, and I think that Charlie is rather lovely. Prefer it on a boy than a girl (although I think it would make a nice nickname for Charlotte). Not particularly good at coming up with sibsets so I'll leave that to the other board members.

It can, and often does, stand on its own- in fact, it was the twelth most common name for boys last year in England and Wales. However, I prefer it as a nn for Charles.
