I love Tristan: it is a beautiful name.
It is elegant but still youthful...
I hate NN "Tris": when I saw this name I don't use nicknames...It is so fascinating as a full name! It don't need a short form.
Also in Italian the word for "sad" is "triste" so Tristan is for me romanticaly linked with melancholy.
