[Opinions] WDYT of Indigo?
Replies
I absolutely love Indigo for a boy (and only for a boy)! I first heard it used for a male character in a series (where all the kids were named after colours) and I completely fell in love. I just think it sounds so good as a name, and I don't see why it can't work with names like Violet, Clementine or Grey. And indigo is my favourite colour. I really love it paired with August as a brother haha.
Good colour, lousy name.
I have to agree.
Heh, thanks
Hippy dippy, imagey, special. Indigo Children.
It's not a strongly negative impression in real life, it just sounds like it is when I describe it here! Whether I'd like it or not would depend a lot on my interaction with the guy named Indigo.
It's not my style though.

Indigo Children? I had to google them. At at glance it doesn't seem very... um... creditable, so I don't think I'd worry about the association. I'd worry more about it seeming hippy.. like you say, not a strongly negative impression in real life, but not one I'd want to give either. Hm.
Thanks for replying (:

Its trying too hard.
Trying to hard to be what?
To be cool. People on here tend to love it, though.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying (: I guess it could seem that way. It would probably take a certain kind of person to pull the same off without seeming silly.
I am obviously in the minority on that opinion, though.
I like it. A cute nn would be indigo
Thanks (: Do you mean Indigo would be a good nickname for something else, or..?
I love it - for a girl! A friend of mine has a daughter called Indigo.
It would probably fit a boy too.

Oh, really? That's lovely. To be honest I like it on a girl as well, but I feel girls get so many wonderful names that I wanted to know what people thought of it on a boy. I think it works, but I often think names work for boys that others don't.
I think it's an interesting boys name (in a good way). Definitely would stand out but personally don't think it's the weirdest name I've come across. If it's paired with a tamer middle name I think it's a good name!
Thank you! I think, if I ever was to use it, I wouldn't give it a middle name at all. You're right that it would need something tamer, but paired with any usual boy's name it sounds like a description. Indigo William? Indigo Nathaniel? It doesn't work at all. Indigo William sounds like a pirate, probably a relation of Bluebeard.
Hahaha glad I could help!
I slightly prefer Indigo for a girl, because I'm used to it as a
girls' name. But's it's a fabulous name either way, and I love the nickname Indie.

It seems a few people prefer it on a girl. You say you're used to it, do you know an Indigo? I was hoping because of the -o ending people would feel it was more of a boy's name. All my favourite -a ending boy's names, people seem to say "it sounds like a girl's name" or "it would be better on a girl" and that kind of thing. It seems it doesn't go both ways!
I love the nickname Indie too, though for a boy I'd probably write it Indy.
Thanks!

Love it! The color and the sound of the name.
Thank you! I love the sound too.
It's just silly as a name, doubly silly as a boy's name. Like some weird blue-haired comic book character.
Ha! And whenever he looks a bit sad you can ask him, "feeling blue, Indigo?"
Thanks. Always love your comments (:

Hi !!!!
I don't like Indigo very much because it seems a surname for me...
But I think it is a BOY name as you said.

A surname, really? Wow. I had no idea. Thanks (:
I like it, but I prefer it for a girl.
You prefer it for a girl too.. hmm. I wonder if this is going to be the trend. Thanks for your opinion (:

I think Indigo is super cute, but only for a girl. I really, really don't like it for a boy at all.
Huhn, interesting. Thankyou!
