Unless the Ethel you wanted to commemorate had the middle name Audrey. It's just too big a stretch for all practical purposes, and frankly, if somebody told me "My daughter is named Audrey to honor great-Aunt Ethel, because they're from the same Anglo-Saxon root" I'd think 1. What a know-it-all showoff. and 2. Don't feel the need to justify using Audrey. Just give it to her and don't try to spin it. and 3. If you really are that determined to honor great-Aunt Ethel, give the poor child Ethel as a middle name that she can try and keep hidden from everybody.I think, therefore I judge.
