It's not weird. I know a kid named Alden. His little brother is Charles (called Charlie).
Alden is a little bit formal and serious sounding, but not much more so than Hayden.
I prefer Alden over Aldon, because to me, it just looks more like it's pronounced ALL-den, while Aldon looks like AL-dun - also Aldon looks like a name for a town, and Alden is more a human name.
I think Alden Michael is slightly more musical and less severe than Alden Charles, but either is okay.- mirfak
