I love it and have never been able to sell it to anybody else. So, so pretty.

I hate it. I'm not fond of much of any name resembling Elizabeth, a name which I detest to the limits of my soul.

I love Elsie as a nickname, so I really like Elspeth as a way to get Elsie as a nickname. However, I prefer Elsa with Elsie as a nickname.

It's alright. Bit old fashioned but still works as a pretty name. Makes me think of fairies for some reason

That's one of those names that I think I would like if I liked the bearer, and hate if I hated her.

I like the contraction aspect of it. It's like Elizabeth without its "queen" aura.
I hesitate about the sounds, which are kind of drunken and lispy and could be twee... I've never had to call anyone Elspeth out loud - I'd have to try that to know whether it bothered me or not.

I love this name. It is one of my favorite E girl names.

It's witchy and therefore I like it I guess but it's just so mushy and pink. I wish it was said more like "Elzbeth"

I love Elspeth. Its softer than Elizabeth and much less used. Its beautiful and my favorite combo is Elspeth Fleur.

I like it a lot! I think it's cute, but not cutesy, and it's upbeat.

I agree with queenv -- sounds like spittle. I agree with Roxstar -- Elizabeth got too drunk to say her name right. And her parents were terrified of seeming Ordinary, so their poor child got saddled with Elspeth. Ugh.

I don't really care for Elspeth. Elsbeth is a tad better, but overall, I prefer Elizabeth or Elisabeth. They look and sound nicer, imo.

It's ugly ugly ugly. It's like Elizabeth too drunk to say her name right. It's for people who really want to use Elizabeth but are terrified of being seen as Following the Crowd or Playing It Safe.

I have a love/hate relationship with this name.

Depending on my mood it may seem cute or nerdy, sweet or ugly. It's strange and old-fashioned, and for whatever reason feels like a mythological name to me, falling on the same scale as Lyra and Persephone. I love the El-, but the p is so hard, and Elsbeth seems like a wrinkled old hag. The El- is youthful and sweet, but I've never been a fan of Beth, and -peth feels weird. It just feels like it's trying too hard.

I really like Elspeth! I think it's strong and down to earth, but still has an attractive sound and vintage charm. And while I'm not usually a fan of nicknames I do find Elsie difficult to resist.

It's a lovely and fresh variant on Elizabeth.

It sounds like someone mispronuncing Elizabeth.It's old-fashioned and not my style.
