Leopold is tied for my favorite boys' name - I'd be more inclined to just call a Leopold "Leo," but Poldi is cute!Lysander is interesting. I wouldn't use it myself, but it would be cool to meet one.I had a dog named Samson, so it's hard for me to shake that association, but it's a nice alternative to Samuel. I like Sam- names.

Leopold is nice, tough I always prefer Leo or Leon for the nn. Poldi is cute, though.Lysander makes me think of Harry Potter (I'm sure there's a Lysander in there somewhere, but I'm too lazy to Google at the moment). It's not a bad name, and Zander, Sander, and Sandy are nice nns.Samson is lovely as the "Sam" name people tend to forget. It really isn't quite as, I guess, "smooth" as Samuel (one of my all time favourites), but it's very bold. :)

Love them all! However, I don't like the nn Poldi. It sounds contrived to my American ear.

Leopold is pretentious and a half. Which isn't all bad. This one in particular is not my style, though I would appreciate it well enough for someone else. And Poldi is fun.Lysander has always seemed sneaky and slimy to me. I really hate it.Samson rocks! A lot.

I can't shake Leopold from the King Leopold association, so I can't really get into it. It has a nice sound though, and I like other Leo- names a lot.Lysander is cool. I like it a lot.I love Samson, it's very sweet and warm to me. Reminds me of the Regina Spektor song, which is a plus.

I like the Regina Spektor song too. She's really unheard of here but I love her music

Leopold, NN Poldi: I would use Leo and not Poldi. Poldi sounds comical to me, but it might be okay where you live.
Lysander: It's growing on me, but I can't help but picture an arrogant, pompous sort of person when I hear it.
Samson: Cute and underused. I don't think of the Bible story, I just think it sounds neat.

I like Leopold and Samson's ok, don't see Lysander as really usable. But I have to say Poldi sounds silly to me.

LOVE Leopold, my favorite of the three. It's one of the most effortlessly handsome English names out there, imo. I dislike Poldi, it takes some of that away. I'd go with Leo, but probably no nickname at all.Lysander is great as well, if not a bit lizard-y. I always think of Demetrius and Lysander from A Midsummer Night's Dream, so I tend to compare the two. Demetrius always wins for me (the name, not necessarily the character), which is probably why I've not considered Lysander myself.Samson is meh. Most Sam names are meh. Forgettable. Next to Leopold and Lysander, especially.

I like Leopold, but prefer the nickname Leo. Lysander isn't really my style, but it's cute. Same for Samson.

Leopold is nice, ditto Poldi, but I wouldn't personally pass up the chance to use Leo. Lysander is awesome, and Samson is cool, but it's my dog's name. Pencae Lord Samson. Naturally, we call him Sam. But it's more unique and fun than Samuel. Lysander might not be usable, but a cute nickname could make it so. Xander? Zand? Andy? Liz sounds too feminine. But I like all of these names in theory.

I like Leopold, but I don't like it as a first name. It sounds too royal/highbrow.
I like Leonard, or Leo.Poldi is awful! Sorry.
It reminds me of Poltergeist and the German soccer player Lukas Podolski who is called that way.I like the looks and sound of Lysander, but it's not a real person's name to me... too much memories of A Midnummer Night's Dream.Samson certainly has a nice meaning... but I don't really like it. I assume it's the sound... and Samson from Sesame Street. Naw.
