This is a name with a variety of opinions. I quite like it but I don't think I would use it.
What are thoughts on the name for a girl.
If its not liked why?

It was a word long before it was a name - if it ever was. And, as a name, it's no sillier than Epic would be, but that's quite silly enough.
I love it. I live in Sweden where this is a very popular name, but I think it's a very sweet name and yet suitable for a grown up as well.
It's a pretty popular name here in Sweden, although (or perhaps because) it means "fairytale" in Swedish. I think it's nice. The only think I don't like about it is that it reads "agas" backwards and that means "is being smacked" in Swedish. So "Saga agas" would mean "Saga is [contiouously] being smacked".
It's because of the word, I think - its connotations (it slightly connotes melodrama, or tiresome length of a story), and the similar sound/look to sag and soggy. As a name for a Scandinavian person, it would be nice, but to me (US) it's not very appealing as a name for a baby girl.
I don't hate it, but it just makes me think of advertisements for modern sci-fi novels/stories, like "The Twilight Saga" or "The Star Wars Saga".
Now that I look at the meaning/history of the name, I understand it a bit more, but I still wouldn't really be able to shake that connotation. Unfortunate, because it's a pretty cool name.

I don't like it, because it just sounds ugly. Soggy and saggy.
I feel about the same way as you do. I like it, but I doubt I would use it. I really like the sound and the association with history, which is a passion of mine, but I don't have any Swedish roots, so I don't think the connection would be made to the goddess. (Though I am a well-known nerd, so mayyyybe :P)
Possible combos:
Saga Evelyn
Saga Catherine
Saga Adeline
Saga Astrid
Saga Beatrice
Saga Caroline
Saga Madeline
Saga Dagny
Saga Kristin
Saga Eleanor / Elinor
Saga Vivian
Saga Isabel / Isobel
Saga Iris
Saga Jospehine
Saga Margaret / Marit
Saga Maxine
Saga Therese
Saga Titania
Saga Artemis
Saga Genevieve
Saga Marion
I think it pairs nicely with some of the less-frilly feminine names that are popular right now, and is itself a good balance of strong and delicate.
