They have a very similar sound pattern, two (or three, depending on how you say it) syllables with two "AR"s in the same places. And, the initial sounds (/b/, /m/) are both articulated with the lips. People probably just mishear or misremember.

That occurred with me on one occasion. I've been informed that I speak quickly - and that I sometimes half mumble. I think the "Margr" "Barbar" {phonetic 'Barbr' may frequently sound similar - especially when spoken or introduced from those who speak as I do - or in the midst of additional background noises. If you prefer to be called by either of these names, please let us know.
