[Opinions] Declan?
Any more comments on Declan? I don't tend to get responses on my posts.

I love Declan. Just do, I like the way it looks and sounds and the fact that it's an authentic Irish name.

Honestly, I want to like Declan. I like a lot of Irish & Scottish names, but it has a weird "mouthfeel" for me.
I find Declan quite low-class, I'm afraid. It's the kind of name I associate with people who put their infant in branded sports attire, generally a tracksuit and shiny white running shoes, and pierce their ears as soon as they hit the age of 12 months. I would think of an Irish Declan differently, and more favourably, but unfortunately I have yet to meet one.

I have to agree with you and I don't like the "an" ending. My boyfriend really likes it so I wanted to see what others think.
Heh...my mother pierced my ears at six months.
Sorry! I'm just not a fan of piercings in general, they kind of creep me out, so seeing them on kids isn't something I particularly like. Having said that, it's generally just when I see the mini sports attire that I start getting kind of judge-y :P
No worries. I didn't take it personally. :)
I can't warm to this name, and I'm not sure why . It sucks somehow, I'm just not able to put my finger on the suckage yet. Maybe I'll get back to you.

I would like to say I am sorry for not responding to your first post about Declan. There...I said it.
Other than that, I think it's an OK name but I don't feel like using it in real life since I am a Polish person living in England, not an Irish person.

Thank you!
It seems unnecessary to make another post only a day later. Sometimes posts from several days ago get late responses. You also might get more responses if you included more in the post. Are you looking for just opinions on Declan, other names that you might like, middle name combos? Perhaps instead of making threads for each individual name you are liking, put them all in one post. People tend to comment more on posts with more names.
That being said, Declan is okay. It's not my favorite but I don't hate it. It was a character on Criminal Minds so it makes me think of that. I think it's a bit clipped but I'm really neutral on it. It doesn't bring up any kind of imagery. It's an okay name.

Okay! Will do, I will try making one post but I don't think of all that at the same time. :) So yeah. Thanks for your opinion.
"People tend to comment more on posts with more names."
About that, I put up a post a week or so ago with a really long list of names, yet I only got a few responses. So, I don't think there's a correlation between how many first names you put up and how many responses you get from your post.

You have to get the right balance. A long list of names can be a lot to process and people don't always have the energy for that.
All about balance, agreed!
^This. The posts with five to ten names always get more responses than the posts with, say, thirty or forty names.
Yeah, I think if you generally stay under 10 names, people are more likely to respond. I know if I see a really long list, I just pass it over because I feel like I need to comment on everyone and I don't have the energy.
