No. Too political for me, and not in a good way. Naming anything Zion could be seen, rightly or wrongly, as standing with the Zionist movement.
I don't seek to impose my political beliefs on others, and I'm not seeking a political debate, but that name's just not for me. So... yeah, I really don't like Zion at all.

If I were to meet a Zion, my age or a little younger, I would sincerely wonder why their parents picked the name and whether they're the kind of people I wish to associate with, or who would wish to associate with me.

I feel pretty neutral about it. It's kind of weird - about as weird as Sequoia, and about as strange to call someone. I could get used to it, I guess.

I'm not sure what to think about it. Mostly it just comes off to me as phoney-meaningful because it's a thing in so many different religions.

I also see in the comments on the name that some people find it politically meaningful. My not understanding exactly why they think that, would stop me cold in my tracks from using any name.

I've met a female Ziona, but never a Zion. I did know a professor of law, a Jew born before the founding of the state of Israel, whose given name was Ben-Zion, but he was always known as Ben.

I don't like Zion much as a separate name and I wouldn't use it.

I really quite like it =) I think I'd pair something long and masc with it, like Alexander.

My first thought is an association with the Zionist movement. I understand there are biblical connotations, as well.

Obviously I love the name Zion, as it's DS #2 mn. Jethro Zion is the combo we went with, but I think it can work with a lot of names as either a fn or a mn. The reason we went with it is for it's Biblical connection and strong sound.
