[Opinions] Frances
Anyone like Frances?
Is it ripe for a comeback?

Yes :)
Frances is a bit of a special name for me! (well mainly Francis for a boy)
I did a special subject at uni a few years ago where we had to research an ANZAC and we went to Turkey and found their gravesite etc. and my diggers name was Francis Horatio Faddy.
So since then I love Frances/Francis :)
I hope its not coming back!! ;)

I understand that some people may like it or even love it.
I'm just not a huge fan.I dont deteste it. Just wouldnt use it.
I honestly dont know if I even prefer it for a male or female

Frances is a charming, happy, no-fuss name. I like names that could be described as "pretty and sturdy," like Martha, Marjorie, Olive, or Helen, and Frances fits right in. Only a negative family association keeps me from really loving it. I even like its nicknames, especially Frankie. Francis for a boy would also get a thumbs up from me, though I prefer Franklin and Frank.
I think Frances will make a comeback of sorts, but I don't think it's destined to climb back into the top 10 anytime soon. It appeals to hipsters, nerds, and namers who like uncommon, old-fasioned names (I'm 2 out of 3, here). It could get a boost from Pope Francis. Even Drew Barrymore's second daughter could spark interest in Frances if people think Frankie is cute. FWIW, Frances, though still uncommon, is now more popular than it has been since 2005. Early stages of a revival, maybe? We'll be able to tell in a few years.

I don't know if it will make a huge comeback among average people, but it is very elegant, and I could see it being used among more cultivated groups of people.
Side note: I think Francis is one of the most chic male names there is.

Pope Francis
And even before him I'd seen it several times. I don't think it will become super popular but it will jump.

I'm neutral about Frances. Don't love it, don't hate it.
I can see it gain popularity, but not enough to reach the top 100 int he next few years at least.

I adore it endlessly. I think it's sweet, with just the right amount of clunkiness. I don't think it's going to make a big comeback, or at least I hope it doesn't, but I'd love to see it get a little bit of use and I think it's ready for that.
Probably it might make a small comeback in certain narrow demographics, but I think it's too frumpy to reach a level of real popularity.
I like it quite a lot; not enough to use it, but I'd enjoy meeting a small one.
Unusually for me, I like Francis about the same as Frances. Usually one gender leads the other - Stephen far ahead of Stephanie, for instance; Georgina rather than George; Justine yesyesyes, Justin nonoyuckouch. What I don't like are the elaborations, like Francine or Francesca.
Was Frances ever so popular that it bombed? As Linda did, and Carol etc? Or has it always been used, just not much?

I'd say it bombed.
It was in the top 10 between 1912 and 1924.
And it was in the top 25 between 1901-1938.
