When they're written down, Semitic languages typically show consonants but not vowels - the exceptions are mostly in sacred texts where accuracy is important.This means that David and Dawood, Salem, Salim, Shalom and Salome and so on represent the same name as used in different languages or as transcribed by speakers of other languages.
