[Facts] Masculine variant
I am looking for a masculine form for the name Gertrude. A name with similar origin and meaning but linguistically unrelated would also be acceptable. Thanks!

This is a tough challenge, since the name is composed of two so-called name elements, GER (meaning spear) and TRUD (meaning strength). The last element determines the gender (femine). Some suggestions:Trudger (switching the name elements creates a male name, because GER is a male name element)Gerhard, Germar, Gerold, Gerolf (keeping the first name element)Gertrudius (adding a latin ending to force maleness---looks weird, but such devices have been popular especially in East Friesland and other parts of northern Germany)P.S. Note on pronounciation: Trudger is pronounced like TROOD-ger with a hard g. Since the spelling suggests a very different pronounciation in anglophone countries, you can choose the form Trutker instead.
