[Opinions] Re: Kerry
Hmm, I don't pronounce Carrie and Kerry quite alike. I have an American (Midwest) accent.

Out of curiosity, how do you pronounce them? I'm from the Eastern US and I'd say them both the same.

I'm in the US Midwest/ Great Lakes regions, and I say them the same, too.

I'm from the Northeastern US and I say them the same. But my sister who is from the same place (naturally) does not say Carrie the same way that I do. I know this because at one point my niece had a friend named Carrie and my sister was also friends with Carrie's mother and so my sister mentioned Carrie quite a few times. I say both Carrie and Kerry so that the first syllable sounds just like the word "care", but my sister said Carrie so that the vowel sound in the first syllable was like the one in the word "cat". Pretty much so that Carrie sounded just like the word "carry." Maybe some people pronounce Carrie like "carry" and Kerry like "care-ee" or vice versa.

I pronounce Carrie the same way as you. I pronounce Kerry more like berry with a K.

Now I'm confused. To me carry, Carrie, and Kerry are all pronounced care ee.

I can confuse you more! To me, Kerry is pronounced kea-re (kear to rhyme with near and here).
Carrie is pronounced kah-re (first syllable sounds like car that your drive).
:PI love the name Kerry, though. I've only known a boy called it, but I can see it would fit a girl too.

I understand what you mean about the pronounciation, but unless I'm paying attention, and am referring to the counties of Ireland, I say Kerry and Carrie the same way. (I'm in east-coast Canada.)I do know a young man named Kerry.
