My first thought is either an old man (Laurie for Laurence) or a little girl (nickname for Laura or Lauren).
I'm not sure if I like it or not... as a nn for Laura/Lauren it seems cute, but as a name it itself I can only thing of those leather shoes with tassels that really old men wear.
