I prefer Cara. I have too much of an association with Carra, (this is the nickname of one of the football (soccer) players from my favourite team - his last name is Carragher). But of course the majority of people in the world won't have that same association! :)

I do pronounce them differently, but I'm from the UK so it's hard to explain how I pronounce them. For me, Cara is 'KAHR-a' and Carra is 'KAH-ra.'
