No, it isn't. Don't do it. I had a husband who went by Jamie until he reached adolescence, when he changed his nickname, and there was a reason for that, so I know what I'm talking about.

I also have a nephew named Jaime, but pronounced like Jamie, but he has never really entered the adult world due to psychiatric problems, so the fact that he as never felt driven to change his name doesn't really mean anything.
