[Opinions] Endellion
When I answered Ora's post "What would your name be" about saints' names, I found that one of the saints of my birthday (April 29th) is Endellion! I immediately fell in love with it. Apparently it's an old Cornish name, but I can't find a meaning.
What do you think of Endellion? I think it's beautiful and sounds like something out of Tolkien's universe.Does the sea exist
Because of our longing?

I like it a lot as a middle name. I think it would be a bit much to wear as a first name.

So is it feminine? Seems masculine to me. I like it, makes me think of dandelions.

I agree, I can totally see it in a Tolkien work. It's beautiful without being a typical frilly "girly" name.It reminds me of a vegetable for some reason, but I'm not sure why. That's not a terrible association to have, though, and it's weak at best.

I like it! It definitely does have a Tolkein feel. It looked masculine to me at first but I suppose I can see it as feminine...

haha I totally agree with the Tolkien thing! It's pretty and fairy-tale-y definitely. I like it as well tbh I found a few random sources that say it means "fire soul" but they don't explain how or why so there's no knowing whether or not it was made up.

Didn't David Cameron use this as his youngest child's mn? It does have a fairly tale vibe, but some people like that.

Yes, her name is Florence Rose Endellion, she was born three weeks prematurely, while the family was on holiday in Cornwall. Her third given name, Endellion, is taken from the village of St Endellion near where the Camerons were holidaying.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Endellion
