[Opinions] Middle name for Celyn (Female)
We've settled on a first name for our baby, due in April, if 'it' turns out to be a 'she'. We've gone for Celyn - traditionally names ending in "yn" are masculine, but it's Welsh for 'holly', has a particular significance to us and we like it. And if celebs can take blatant masculine names like Bryn for their daughters, I'm sure we can have Celyn. We like Welsh names (are both Welsh and baby will be raised speaking Welsh and English) and literature names. We don't want ones with too many 'l's in the middle because of surname. OUR LISTCelyn Eve
Celyn Haf
Celyn Fflur
Celyn Gwawr
Celyn Tesni
Celyn Tegan
Celyn Austen
Celyn Lyra
Celyn Scarlett
Celyn Darcey
Celyn Alyssa
Celyn MadelynIf anyone needs help with pronounciation just ask. We're not overly worried about pronounciation of middle name as it won't be used as frequently. Celyn is pronounced Kellin. Thank you :)

Yay, am also Welsh & love to see people using Welsh names. Celyn has been more popular for girls for a while now - there were 34 girls given the name in the UK in 2012 and only 8 boys. I like it with all of the Welsh names on your list, and Celyn Eve & Celyn Lyra sound good to me too. If I had to pick just one it would be really difficult! - but I'd probably go with Celyn Gwawr.
Other suggestions:
Celyn Awen
Celyn Alaw
Celyn Aur
Celyn Grug
Celyn Meinir

Wow, that's really cool your baby will be raised bilingual in Welsh and English! :) Since Celyn is 'masculine', and would be perceived as such by fellow Welsh-speakers...and I know that other Welsh masculine names have been made feminine by adding the -wen suffix (for example: Bran - masculine, to Branwen - feminine)...have you and your husband considered doing the same for Celyn? That is, making it Celynwen? I did a quick online search and apparently this has been done before, so there is precedent, even if it is rare. I think it sounds quite lovely, though I like Celyn, too. You could name her Celynwen and call her Celyn for short, perhaps. Forgive my lack of knowledge of Welsh, but wouldn't then her name mean 'blessed holly' or 'fair (beautiful) holly'? I think that's just lovely. :) Since it does appear that a feminine form of Celyn - Celynwen - is rare, that would make her name even more distinctive (more so than just Celyn), and still feminine. Of course you don't have to like Celynwen, or perhaps you've already thought of it and rejected it, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway in case you've never heard the feminine form before since it's rare. :P I know many others have already said this, but Celyn Lyra sounds nice. So does Celyn Fflur and and Celyn Tesni. :)I went and looked at the Welsh names on this site and thought these might also sound/work well: Celyn Mair (Celynwen Mair)
Celyn Mari (Celynwen Mari) -- BtN says it's a Welsh diminutive of Mair.
Celyn Mared (Celynwen Mared)
Celyn Eira (Celynwen Eira)
Celyn Betrys (Celynwen Betrys)Congratulations on your baby, btw! :)

My favorite is definitely Celyn Alyssa. It's adorable, sweet, and also makes the more masculine name sound very feminine:) After that it would be Celyn Eve and Celyn Scarlett. :)

Thanks for providing the pronunciation. My favourites from your list are Celyn Tesni and Celyn Alyssa. Since Celyn isn't blatantly feminine, I'd stay away from Austin, Darcey, and Tegan. Celyn Eve sounds nice but also feels like it runs together into one name.

I've always thought Celyn seemed very unisex. I think Celyn paired with something from literature is BEAUTIFUL.Celyn Eve - eh, nothing exciting
Celyn Haf - Haf seems sort of filler
Celyn Fflur - nice sound, but doesn't do it for me
Celyn Gwawr - love the sound
Celyn Tesni - Can't say no to Tesni
Celyn Tegan - too rhymey
Celyn Austen - Only if Austen has significance to you
Celyn Lyra - Now this is more what I was imagining. Gorgeous.
Celyn Scarlett - Colors are perfect, vibe is not.
Celyn Darcey - Not clicking
Celyn Alyssa - Ok, a little too flowery
Celyn Madelyn - Nice, but I think Madeline or Madeleine would look nicer with it (no matchy endings).Oh, Celyn Lyra is a major winner.

I think the Welsh middle names, plus Lyra, would be great with Celyn. Pronunciations? :)

I like Celyn with the Welsh middle names, particularly Celyn Haf and Celyn Tesni. I think I like Celyn Gwawr as well - how do you pronounce Gwawr? :)

Celyn Haf and Celyn Tesni were the two I zeroed in on as well! Tesni is so lovely. Great sound and great meaning. Gwar is kind of cool, but makes me think of the band Gwar.
