[Opinions] Journey
I noticed that in recent years Journey has entered in the Top 1000 names for girls. Where does the name come from? What started it up? Do you know anyone called Journey?

I guess a lot of people who grew up listening to Journey would now be of child-bearing age. I liked the band myself but would never consider it for a child's name!
It's an interesting name, though I'd never use it. Much as I love the band (no sarcasm here, I really do), I don't feel the urge to name a child after them--and everyone would assume I did if I used it!
I assume that a combination of the band's popularity and the unwashed masses' growing interest in word names is how it started up.
Array (who doesn't know any Journeys)
No one's getting smarter
No one's learning the score
Your never ending spree of death and violence and hate
Is gonna tie your own rope
...
I'd like to leave the world as a better place.

Actually I do.
She was named for the band Journey, which I bet you is how a lot of the first Journeys of my generation were named. :-) I like it, though, when I put the band out of my mind. It sounds kind of hippy-ish to me but still tasteful and maybe thoughtful enough that I don't think it's ridiculous.

I like the sounding of it, and I suppose more parents would name their children Journey, if it wasn't a word, but just a name.
Journey means simply Journey. Who knows how it got to the top 1000 (though once you pass 200, it counts for a small portion of the population and a name that is, say, 789 or whatever would be like 2000 people) - maybe the parents felt having a child was a tremendous Journey. At least they didn't name them Destination!
I've never met anyone with that name personally though I've heard of it.

I love the name Journey, I don't know where it came from, how it started but it's one of my faves, it's goergous.
Ew! That's horrible! Who would do that to their poor child?
