The Nell spelling does *look* more nicknamey to me; I prefer the Nelle spelling as a full name. I think it stands well on its own. I get a warm sunshine feel most predominately, but I also get sweetness and sophistication and spunk so, overall, Nelle feels pretty versatile to me.
