Help[Opinions] Soren
Thoughts on the name Soren? I used to like it a lot but what bugs me is that it sounds like you're about to say sorry or sorrow. Maybe that's just my accent though. What comes to mind when you think of this name? Do you think its strong enough? Saad sounding?

I used to think it was pronounced Soar-en, and I liked it that way. But, then I found out it was pronounced Sir-en and I wasn't a fan anymore.
When I was pronouncing it the original way I was thinking of "soars on eagles wings" sort of things. With the actual pronounciation I think of Sirhan Sirhan.

It also sounds like "sore in" (I have a sore in my mouth) to me. I don't mind the sound though. How about Oren?

My best friends son is named Soren. (her other son is Zach oddly enough).
My husband always calls him Zoran, not on purpose he gets confused. Alot of of people think its Zoran because Zoran is much more common here (older men). I like it though.

I hear it as more like Sirren. A schoolfriend of mine had a Scandinavian boyfriend and that was how she pronounced it, but we were all about 15 at the time so it might well be ... not quite right! I rather liked it at the time; pleasantly exotic.

Actually, Sirren is more right than Soren (if you want the "correct" Scandinavian pronuciation that is).
The ø/ö in Søren/Sören is very close or even identical to the vowel sound in sir.

I hear soaring when I see it/say it. Either way I dont think it would work out very well just because of the possibilities of mishearing it or associations.
