The past few years have been a nightmare for the De Leons. Serena began to feel unwell, and after she remained unwell for two weeks, she was taken to a doctor. Serena was diagnosed with cancer, after tests, and it was determined that her chances for survival were slim. Serena quickly became weaker and weaker, and passed away peacefully at home. The family were left in shock, despite being aware of what was likely to happen.

Shortly after Serena's death, Ruby gave birth to her first child, a daughter. She gave her the middle name of Seren, to remember her sister by. Around the same time, Jude's fist child was born. A boy, they named Morgan. Slowly, the De Leon family is learning to cope without Serena, but it has hit her surviving quadruplets hard. Alicia, Ginevra and Luca have all privately mentioned feeling a part of them missing.
