Vesper wasn't going to tell Caspian about the baby. She had thought about giving it up, or aborting it, but in the end, Caspian found out. After two weeks of arguing over it, they decided to keep the baby. Caspian, who had been cooking for a catering company was actually away on a business meeting when Vesper went into labor early. After calling the ambulance and arranging a place for little Arya to stay, Vesper delivered via C-section in the early morning. She didn't even have time to call Caspian until all was said and done. Truth be told, she doesn't even remember picking the name Gatsby, but she likes it now. Caspian was furious when he got back and the child was already named--they had contemplated using Casper as a combination of both of their names--but he couldn't stay mad for long. The little baby was adorable, and what's more, he had a son.
Ironically, while Vesper was still in the hospital, a local grocery store called to tell her she'd won a $5,000 shopping spree. Good thing too, with a new mouth to feed.
