In November, Jessica discovers that she's 6 weeks pregnant. Both Alex and Jessica are very excited, though they both know that money might be tight for a while. But then, Alex wins 5000 dollars in the lottery! They use it to furnish the nursery and buy the essentials. Jessica has baby Jacob in early August of the next year, just before the school year starts. She takes maternity leave, but plans to continue working when her leave is up. Both sets of Jacob's grandparents have fallen in love with him, and plan on spoiling him to death. Jacob also has a favorite uncle, who also happens to be his only uncle, Alex's 21-year-old brother, Jonathan.
