Partner One
Name: Samuel Frederick Whittaker (23)
Career: student (soon to graduate)
Bio: Samuel grew up in London in a close knit, if occasionally dysfunctional family consisting of parents, grandparents, and younger sister Georgia, as well as nearby cousins and extended family. This instilled in him the importance of family, but years spent at boarding school also developed a need for independence and self-sufficiency that doesn't always translate well into a long-term relationship. He spent a year at university studying English before he decided to apply to drama school instead, deciding he'd rather act Shakespeare than write essays about it. Partner Two
Name: Freya Margaret Fitzgerald (22)
Career: student (soon to graduate)
Bio: Like Sam, Freya originally came from a seemingly happy family-oriented American home, with two doctors for parents and three younger brothers (Luke and twins Robert "Rory" and Daniel are nine and six years younger, respectively). However, her father's affair and subsequent separation during her last year of high school shook her foundation and perhaps the level of trust she can bestow on others. Combined with family medical problems, Freya also changed plans to attend a well-thought-of New England liberal arts college in order to pursue acting, specifically a classical training in the British system. Although just getting into a school after the rigorous audition process helped to rebuild some of the confidence that had worn thin, the first year of school was also a lesson in learning to become close with
people in a very short time. Relationship: Sam and Freya first met in a summer drama course as teenagers, but reconnected in their small class of 30 beginning at
drama school several years later. They bonded once again over a mutual love of Shakespeare. Although both started out in relationships with other people, they soon found themselves spending more and more time in after class rehearsals or line practice, just talking and enjoying another mutual love, making and/or eating good, creative food. Messy breakups followed (including a period of guilt for Freya, who felt she might be inflicting the same pain her father had). Samuel's ex girlfriend attended the same school, in a different group, adding to the awkwardness. Even though relationships between classmates are discouraged, Samuel and Freya moved into an apartment, together with two classmates and good friends, at the end of their second of three school years. They've just started their last year, which involves a lot of productions, but are trying to plan their wedding for the summer after they graduate. Both were raised Catholic, though only Freya goes to mass regularly, as she found the quiet of church or a listening priest helpful after family turbulence and medical issues. Both want to be parents, preferably to four or more, though cautious Freya doesn't mind waiting until she's 100% sure the marriage will last, a doubt that worries Samuel at times. Another point of trouble in the foreseeable future is Sam's desire to work with the RSC, whereas Freya would prefer to stay in London. Although, she hasn't said as much to Sam, getting married is important to her because it will solidify her visa to work and live in the UK. Her mother, on the other hand, would prefer her stateside.
