A close friend dies from cancer, your family adopts her two children. A boy age 8, and a girl age 5.
Wil and Toni were married for two years before they adopted Henry and Amy Scott. Toni and her first husband belonged to a cancer support group (pancreatic cancer is what killed him). While in the group, Toni made friends with a lot of the other people and has remained in contact with them over the past few years. When she heard that Nina Scott's brain cancer had returned, she and Wil reached out to her and tried to provide anything they could for the single mother and her family. Six months ago, Nina took a turn for the worse and her two kids stayed with Wil and Toni while Nina was admitted to the hospital to undergo treatment. Ultimately, the treatment failed. Nina had already talked to Wil and Toni about taking in her kids, should the need ever arise, and two weeks ago, Wil and Toni finalized Henry and Amy's adoption. The two kids have been really traumatized by their mother's illness and subsequent death, but they are working through things in therapy, and having a stable house to go home to is helping too.
