Almost. In Sanskrit, antarA' is derived from the particle antar, which is cognate with Latin inter, and means middle. Its musical usage is that it sits among the repeats of the sthAYI (stable, i.e. what one returns to repeatedly); as a technical term in Hindusthani (i.e., North Indian) classical music, it does refer to the second, high pitched, central movement of the composition, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antara_(music)
