Mara. I like both, but Mara would be less expected these days, and it isn't to similar other popular names like Ella and Bella as in the case of Stella.

No competition for me...Stella! Stella Katherine is a pretty combination. Some other suggestions:

I have seriously considered Stella for a long time but there is something I find a little harsh about the sound of it-- I guess it reminds me of stegosaurus or stalactite or something like that! Anyway, it is also an interesting name. But Mara seems lovely.

I like Stella, not a huge fan of Mara. I just don't think there's anything attractive about Mara at all. I'd prefer Maria or Mary. Mara just seems bland to me for some reason.

I think since Stella has a bit of "harshness" to it, it's best to go with something soft as a mn to balance it a bit. Stella Camille sounds nice, but I think Camille has that same harsh quality that Stella has so for that reason I prefer Stella Katherine. I think Stella Catherine would be even better.

Stella, because it has more personality. Mara bores me.

I much prefer the name Stella to Mara, simply because I dislike the meaning of Mara. Stella Katherine is lovely imo. Other combos I like are Stella Ivy, Stella Phoebe, Stella Faith, Stella Grace, Stella Heidi, Stella Jane, Stella Jade, Stella Josephine, Stella Charlotte, Stella Violet, Stella Bethany, Stella Mae/May, Stella Miriam, Stella Mary, Stella Madeleine, Stella Edie/Edith, Stella Esme, Stella Mabel and Stella Tess.

Stella, definitely. I like Mara but it doesn't have the 'star power' (pun intended!) that Stella does. Stella Katherine is lovely.

I prefer Mara.

Mara! I love its softness and definitely prefer it to the harsh sounds of Stella. Mara Johana is my favorite of your combos.

Mara, definitely. It's simple, pretty, and ages well. It's also very practical, but has an elegant side. Stella is a bit too dated, I think. It's also less versatile than Mara.

Mara. Stella is okay, but it's very popular, and I'm getting tired of hearing it. I've only met one kid named Mara, and she was adorable and whip-smart, so I have a good association.
