The girls are fine. Does she actually have a family member named John-Clark, or is she linking Grandpa John and Grandpa Clark with a hyphen?
I find hyphenated mns odd. Nothing would be lost by dropping the hyphen, and there would be a major gain in simplicity. A lifetime of explanations is no joke.

Yes, she put her father's and her husband's father's names together. She likes the hyphen, lol.
