[Opinions] Mabel
Our 10 year old niece has a friend named Mabel. It's not a name I've really thought of before but every time she mentions her, I think what a nice name it is.I also had a dream last night that my Aunt had a baby named Mabel Avila. What do you think of Mabel? Any good Mabel combos?

I think it's sweet--a very warm, comfy name. And I still remember Mad About You, where where Paul and Jamie arrived at their daughter's name by making an acronym for "Mothers Always Bring Extra Love." Awww. Some of my Mabel combos:
Mabel Kerensa, Mabel Amanda, Mabel Carina - load up on the love!
Mabel Kate - sweet and simple
Mabel Tabitha - energetic, with those bouncing Bs, and a bit catlike
Mabel Winona - folksy, capable, and big hearted
Mabel Vivian, Mabel Virginia, and Mabel Josephine - polished young ladies
Mabel Rosanna, Mabel Florence, Mabel Zoe, & Mabel Jessamine - pink-cheeked, tousled, and always outside
Mabel Gwendolen - serious, but not dour
Mabel Margaret & Mabel Matilda - because M is a fun letter to alliterate

I don't like it. The -bul syllable disagrees with me. Clunk. I don't hate it, but it seems so sturdy and plain, like Hester and Ethel and Gertrude ... and like Joan and Sloan and Janet and Barbara and Pamela and Kimberly and Amber. It's sort of similar to why I don't like Abel, Jacob, or Caleb. But it's not awful. Doesn't really bother me.Mabel Miranda

Mabel is so darling. How can anyone named Mabel be anything but adorable? Mabel Susannah, Mabel Georgia and Mabel Ruth are my go-to combos.

It honestly just reminds me of maple syrup. I don't care for it at all.

I think Maybelle sounds and looks a bit more "country" if you know what I mean. I imagine a farm girl in dungarees with pigtails! I love Mabel Juliet as a combo!

Agreed. Maybelle reminds me of cows.

I think it's just awful, one of those super-old-lady/servant names that nobody has used for generations, then suddenly out of nowhere (usually assisted by some celebrity or other) people start going "Ooooh, it's so sweeeet!" mainly because it's a name they've hardly ever heard before on a real person and it's different from Madison. lolMabel, Mabel, set the table...
Don't forget the

Love it!I work as a toddler teacher, and I have a little one-year-old in my class named Mabel. She's seriously the most ADORABLE child. She's so sweet and giggly and happy and smart that I just can't help but love the name now. We call her Mabes for short. Mabel Irene

I think Mabel is very sweet and I'd love to meet a little girl with this name. I think there are a lot of names that work nicely with Mabel, it would just depend on what style of mn you were after really.
