[Opinions] Samson
I've always loved Sam names on boys, but I have a sister named Samantha, and I certainly don't want to honor her. What about Samson nn Sonny?

Not sure I'm with you here: you like Sam names. You can't call a possible son Sam because of his aunt. So you give him a Sam name and call him by the non-Sam segment. Right?Well, not really. Sonny can be used for any male child from Adam to Zachariah. And when he's old enough, he'll want to drop it - which presumably will mean becoming either Samson or Sam! In your place (which I wouldn't be because I really dislike Sam names for both genders), I'd use any Sam name that sounded good as a mn. Like keeping some brooch or lace collar you'll never use at the back of a drawer for ever because it's so beautiful, but you only see it once a year during cleaning spasms.

I'm not sure how Sonny is a NN for Samson, but whatever. Samson isn't a bad name to have on the birth certificate.

I love it! Samson is such a cool name, and Sonny is a cute nickname. Although, personally I think it would seem like you were honouring your sister. Samantha and Samson are very similar when they exist in the same family.

agree...And if my name was Samantha, I would think my sister had me in mind naming her son Samson, and if we didn't get along, I would still tell friends she named him in honor of me, just to cause aggravation for her.

Samson might be okay, though it's a bit overblown, kind of macho cartoon. Sonny, though, is a no-go. It's so generic it's like Junior or Buddy or Bubba, and just as redneck and dated.
