Grace is definitely a nice name, though my friends with that name are in no way graceful.
I think it used to be quite common, but now it's becoming less popular. But yeah, it is really overused as a middle name.
The spelling is fine, I wouldn't want to change it.
I don't link it with religion, really. Not until you mentioned it, but nope.
