I've always liked the name Johannes and it is a family name. Is this name still usable or is it too dated?

I love the name Johannes, it's classic and timeless.

I think it's still usable (where I live at least). You could always use a variation or a different spelling. My first instinct is to say that less letters = less dated, so Johann or Johan would be more usable. Not sure if that's accurate though.

It's quite popular again here in Germany at the moment, though I don't know how Canadians would react to it, of course.

They might have trouble pronouncing it correctly.
