[Opinions] Kara/Cara
This name just popped in my head today and I'm thinking how pretty it is. Understated yet very nice. Thoughts? Which spelling do you prefer?

Kara is sometimes in my top 10. I've always liked it.
I'm usually a C- girl, but I prefer the look of sharper Kara. I don't dislike Cara, but I think "cara mia," and I get a mental image of Gomez Addams kissing his way up Morticia's arm.

Cara if it's Latin and means Dear; Kara means Black or Dark as I understand it.
I find them both dated. About 30 years ago there was a minor explosion of Cara and Kara people, but it passed.

I like it. It is sweet and simple but pretty.
It is a little dated as it and it's variants were very popular in the 80's.
(It seems every female at my husband's high school was Cara/Kara/Carrie/Caroline/Kelly/Christa/Kristen).

It's pretty. A bit boring maybe, but pretty. I prefer the Cara spelling. I always prefer a C over a K, because I find C to be soft and graceful, whereas K sound harsh.
Very pretty. I prefer the Cara spelling because it means friend in Irish and dear one in Italian. A two-for-one name. :-D
I like it. It's a bit boring, but not too much. It has a soft, sweet sound. I prefer Cara for "care + a" and Kara for "car + a". Not sure why.
From a numerology standpoint.
K is a vibration of 2
C is a vibration of 3
Just one letter change in a name can change the vibration.
When adding the rest of the letters vibration numbers you come up with the whole vibration of the name.
Kara is a 4 vibration: solid, responsible, and seeks security
Cara is a 5 vibration: seeks freedom and adventure

I like it as long as its pronounced KAR-uh not KAIR-uh. I find in some accents the A sounds more like a soft A sound, which I dislike.
I think I prefer the C spelling because K names are too trendy right now.

I think it's alright, it's my middle name. I pronounce it differently than normal though, and that was always a bother. People would say either CAH-ruh or CARE-uh, but I say CA-ruh. It's a hard pronunciation to write out. Kind of like the first a in calendar? It might be a regional pronunciation, I don't know. I find the other two pronunciations very unattractive. Cara as a spelling is preferable to Kara.
I was trying to work out how to write the pronunciation too! I say it the same way as you.
Could you write the pronunciation like kerr-ah? Like the girls' name Kerry, but with a different ending?
No, I don't pronounce it like Kerry. Kerry has a very clear E sound, and Cara has an A sound.
It's OK. I prefer the look of Cara. I have bad associations with Kara so I'd avoid that personally. Kara looks more dated to me.
I prefer Cara, it has a nice meaning in Irish (friend). Kara doesn't do anything for me - I don't like many K names. I used to really like Cara, now I find it a little boring, not sure why.
Yuck. I don't think it's pretty at all, especially with the K- spelling. It sounds very trashy.
I like it. I prefer Cara, but I like Kara as well. Kara reminds me of Klara, so I think that Kara seems more likely to be pronounced KAR-a rather than CARE-a, but I have heard Kara pronounced CARE-a frequently enough that I don't think that there would be many problems.
I've always liked it. Pronounced Care-a, of course. I think I like Cara better, but it isn't much of a difference to me.
