Both of the new parents are very excited and nervous. Both sets of grandparents are excited as well. Seamus is the Goffe's first grandchild, as Mel is the oldest of 5 children. Seamus is the Banner's third grandchild, but the first boy. Dean's sister had another baby girl, Robin Alicia, six months ago, so Seamus will have a little cousin just a bit older than he is, and Ariel, who's 5 years older.

Dean's sister, Abby and her husband Eli, die in a car accident when they are hit head on. They leave Dean and Mel the guardians of their two children, 10-year-old Ariel and 6-year-old Robin. The entire family is grief-stricken when veterinarian Abby and police officer / detective Eli. Hundreds of people show up at their funeral, family, friends, Abby's patients, Eli's team: his partner Vince Foster, Danny Henderson, and Lauren Simms, and half the precinct.

And Robin, who had been ahead in the academic world since she was three years old and started reading her own bedtime stories, and skipped first grade is graduating in June and has been accepted to Harvard with a 3.9 GPA, 2300 SAT, and 35 ACT. She intends to become a lawyer, therefore, go to Harvard Law when she graduates.
