I love Magnolia. It's my favorite flower and one of my favorite flower names. I like Nola as a nn. It was on the top of my list before I determined to use saint names.

I love the name Magnolia, I much prefer it to Magdalen, Magdalena, Margaret, and other names that you could use Maggie as a nn. So many Magnolia trees grow in Seattle which is where I grew up. We even have a neighborhood called Magnolia and it is a very nice neighborhood with beautiful houses, most of the people who live there are affluent or at least fairly well off though most people in Seattle who own a home seem to be well off. So I always think of the flowers but also of the neighborhood.I love Maggie, I also love Mags, Nola, and Nollie / Noli. Ollie / Oli, Lia, and Mia are also pretty good but I prefer Mags, Maggie, Nola, and Noli / Nollie.I love Magnolia, it sounds dignified and stern but also carefree and a bit frilly. I feel that it will age well. Plus it has a lot of great nn's. I also love that it is a plant name and that it is so unusual but familiar enough that very few people will be unfamiliar with it. Plus she can go by Mags or Maggie if she dislikes how unusual and floral her name is. So yeah I love Magnolia and I encourage you to use it someday. :)

It doesn't feel like a name to me.

Magnolia is gorgeous. I'm not a major fan of Maggie. I find it somewhat dowdy and nasally sounding, but it's decent as a whole. I like Nola and Noli as nicknames for Magnolia.

I think Magnolia "Maggie" is adorable! Such a cute nn for a very pretty fn.

I like it, and I'm starting to consider it for my own list. I am partial to Maggie as a nickname, so that gives it bonus points. You could also use Mags, Noli, even Lia.

I like it on other people's children. It was a favourite for a while but it's not for me.I love Maggie. I also like Nolie / Nolia, but Maggie is the least pretentious.

I think it is way overblown and Mary Sue-ish. If you want to use Maggie, just use Maggie as the full name, or Margaret.

I think it's cute. :)

I love Magnolia! Its Southern-belle brassiness is irresistible. I'm not fond of the overused Maggie, though; I'd opt for Nola as a nickname.

I really love Magnolia. I'd likely call a Magnolia, "Nola", or "Nolie"

I'm not totally crazy about flower names beyond Daisy and Rose, Magnolia sounds too long and pointless to me. I like Maggie but prefer Mags, I'd rather get it from Margaret than Magnolia which is saying something as I think Margaret is really dull.

I wouldn't use it, but I'd appreciate it on someone else's kid. It's gutsy but could be very cute as well. Nothing wrong with Maggie. Other ideas:
Mags
Noli
Nolia
Oli (OH-lee)
Mia
Mo
Moli (I like the sound, but it is close to mole-y)
Molia
Li
Lia

I hate Magnolia passionately. IMO, it's an unbearably ugly name, and Maggie doesn't make a bit of difference. I would hate it if it were my name.

I used to love it, forgot all about it and upon seeing this post decided that I don't like it any more. Middle name at best.

It was never pretty to me, so I am completely baffled when I hear people talk about how beautiful it is. It sounds like a crusty old broad who chain smokes and watches "The Price Is Right" all day.

I think it's pretty. Magnolias are nice flowers.
