On a kid like mine (American with no particular other heritage) it's just Euro-chic.

Lucas and
Luke as
Matthias and
Matteo are to
Matthew. I don't mean it's bad, but it's sort of like
Erik,
Sean,
Keith,
Brian,
Kyle ... pulled from another language to get away from the mainstream. Trendy, in a weird way?
Not so much if you're from a country where
Luca is the usual form of the name.
I think
Lucas C______ would sound nice(r).
