In the last six years, a lot have happened. Don and Jake have both turned fifty and had huge parties for their birthdays, surrounded by friends and family.
Sadie and Remus had another child: Ulysses. He is now four years old. Unfortunately, Sadie and Remus divorced just six months after he was born. Sadie has moved back to New York with her children, and Don and Jake are doing their best to support her. She has put her dreams to become a pop star on hold, seeing as she no longer has a producer.
Evan and Soraya have travelled all over the world together as she has been running in international competitions. She got a bronze in the latest Olympics and Evan couldn't be more proud of her.
Rafael graduated high school with straight A's (no one was surprised at that) and applied for all the Ivy League schools and settled for Harvard, studying Law. He seems to be in the top of his class and that didn't shock any of his family members either. What did shock them was when he brought home a boyfriend: everyone had always assumed Rafael just wasn't that into relationships of any kind. His boyfriend, Christopher Messersmith, is the opposite of Rafael: open, talkative, humble, hilarious, simple minded. But everyone in the family fell in love with him when they saw Rafael around him - it was so obvious that they both loved each other. Rafael even blushed around him, something he had not done in years before that.
Nella also shocked the family by announcing she had got engaged with her high school sweet heart, Newton Sharpe. They are both going to different universities this fall and wanted to make sure their love would last, so they ... got engaged! Don's jaw literally dropped when he found out, and he couldn't help but remember the last time one of his daughters got engaged "too young" - that ended up in bitter divorce. Jake, on the other hand, doesn't worry that much. He really likes Newton and thinks he is great for Nella. Nella obviously agrees.
Ash also surprised the family when he announced that he was dating too. Ash is a great guy, which all the Holmwood-Rezníks know, since they are family. The thing is, Ash is so shy, no one ever thought his greatness would shine through so other people could "discover" him and appreciate him as much as his family. But they were all happy for him, and asked him to bring his girlfriend over for dinner. So he did, and when she turned up, Nella almost screamed:
"Allie Sorcha?! You're dating ALLIE SORCHA?"
It turned out Allie was the most popular girl at the triplets' high school: a blonde bombshell, who was not only stunningly beautiful, but nice, funny, helpful, intelligent and charming. How Ash built up the courage to talk to her is still a mystery to everyone in the family.
Hemi is too busy for dating: he is playing professional basket ball and football and finds no time for anything but training. Evan and Soraya helps him out and Soraya has introduced to some of the best coaches in the world.
Zain is in high school: his favourite subject is history. He is very fascinated with his heritage - he knows his dad was a muslim from the Middle East, and even though he doesn't know anymore, the Quran and the Middle East is of great interest for him, but not only that. He is also into studying the Bible and the Torah and comparing them to each other. He is currently taking Hebrew classes to broaden his perspective of the texts.
