[Opinions] Ariston
What are your feelings on the Ariston? I like the name, but I'm paranoid that it might come off as pretentious. Do you feel that it's way too pretentious?
I feel that one of the pluses of this name is that it possesses a rich history.

I like it a lot and I don't think that it sounds too pretentious. I'm a big fan of Greek names and I love the history behind them as well.
I like the meaning
and it makes me think of "aristocratic". Ariston and aristocratic are probably related words.
Prententious for whom? If you like it, it is not pretentious. We should have high ambitions for our children. And if it sounds "too much" for a little boy, he could be called Ari.
I've never heard the name Ariston before, but I know of a dog named Arista. It suits her, she is an imposant dog.

I learned my lesson well.
You see you can’t please everyone
So you got to please yourself."

I really like Ariston, although I do prefer Aristo. It does seem slightly pretentious, but not overly so.
This is on my favorite names list! And has been for about five years.
Personally - I love this name. It's not super popular or really odd either. It's a less common alternative to Asher, Ashton, Ashley, Alexander, etc...
I don't think it's pretentious at all. I love it :)
