Help[Opinions] Gabriel or Dane?
If I ever have a boy, I'd like to name him either Gabriel or Dane. Which do you prefer, why and I need a middle name too. Both my girls have my middle name. Eleni.

And i think any middle name 2 sylables or more would go fine. I really think Gabriel sounds very feminine.

I think Dane sounds a bit too modern and will probrably go out of fashion soon. Gabriel is nicer, but I know two Gabriels so it might be a bit popular now.
I think Gabriel Rhys/Reece sounds nice and Simeon goes well with Dane. What others were you thinking of?

Gabriel is far too popular in most places. (Which country do you live in, if you don't mind saying?)
For that reason, I'd go with Dane, though I think Dana (boy as well) is so much nicer. Why not use both names in a combo, like Dane Gabriel?

I don't really like either name, I don't like Dane because I went to school with a Dane and he wasn't very nice, and I prefer Gabriel(le) for a girl. ;)

I love the name Gabriel. Dane doesn't seem like a name for anything other than the dog breed Great Dane. Here's some fn/mn combos:

ATTN Caragh: a question . . .
I am guessing that, since you speak of not having any sons and wanting to name a daughter Bree, you are not the same Caragh as posted here last year:

If you are definitely not the same Caragh (and your IP addresses trace to different continents so it would not surprise me), please choose a different posting name to avoid confusion. Posting names are first-come-first-served and Caragh is already taken. I didn't pick this up sooner because I actually assumed that you were the same Caragh.

Wow. No that wasn't me last year. But I have never in all my long life met or heard of anyone else knowing someone by the name Caragh spelled this way. Not even in Ireland. I'm sure I can come up with something else though.

. . . it is hard when someone takes the name you want! If she'd just been a random passing poster I wouldn't worry, but since she's actually got the Caragh login it's a bit more tricky (and might be annoying for you if you wanted to get a login someday).
What would probably be ok would be if you created a login that was different to Caragh, and then used Caragh as your posting name. As long as you use the same combination of posting and login name every time you post, that should be fine.

You gave two daughters the same mn...? That's a different sort of naming practice.
Hm, I love Gabriel personally. It's my all-time fave boys name and if I ever have a son, that's the name I'm using. It's beautiful.

Yah, both girls with my middle name is a way of creating my own family tree through the mothers line. I hope that they will do the same if they have daughters. I've always felt that the lineage should flow through the mothers last name as its always certain who the baby's mother is - yet I hated my maiden name, took my husbands last name and so chose to give the girls my middle name instead. unusual true, but i love it.
