I'm from the UK and to me Violet (and especially the nn Vi) still seems a bit dated / old-fashioned, whereas other flower names that are fashionable here are more 'cutesy' and end in the nicknamey-sounding 'ee' sound that is currently so popular here (Lily, Poppy, Daisy, Ros(ie) etc).

I would actually much rather see a little Violet than yet another Poppy though.
