Its been 4 years...
Noah & Elena have a pretty quiet life nowdays, they're both still busy with work but they definitely have a lot more time to themselves now that the only kids still living at home are Mason & Willa (oh and the grandkids whenever they steal them away from their parents!). In fact the house has felt so empty without their brood there that they decided to get a kitten! They found the most beautiful, fluffy, grey ragdoll kitten and it was love at first sight! They took him home where Mason prompty nicknamed him "Baldy" thinking it would be funny on such a hairy wee kitten, and it unfortunately stuck. After having raised her kids, Elena learnt a long time ago that sometimes you just have to run with things like that, the fight just isn't worth it so lenthened out "Baldy" to "Baldwin" as the little kittens official name and that was that.
James & Ariel are both now college graduates! Everyone is so proud of what they've been able to accomplish while raising Finn & Chloe as well as going to school. James is now working for a very reputable architecture firm and is absolutely loving it, and Ariel is working as a relief teacher for now which gives her more time at home with Finn, Chloe and latest edition, Ellie. Ellie was a suprise, they hadn't decided whether they wanted more kids but when Ariel found out she was pregnant again just after her graduation they were very happy.
Things have been tough for Leo. He graduated from the Policy Academy and started work as a cop 3 years ago. It's very fulfilling work and he loves it, but his personal life is all over the place. Leo was a bit of a ladies man for awhile there, he wanted to find a girl and settle down, but none ever held his interest for long and he'd move on to the next one. Leo finally admitted to himself a few years back that he truly was in love with Alex and thats why none of those other girls were enough, but unfortunately it took Alex entering a serious relationship to make him realise that. He really tried after that with the next girl he met who seemed nice, a waitress/singer by the name of Brooke Pyke. Brooke was an attractive girl with a great smile, a quick sense of humour and a decent head on her shoulders and Leo decided that maybe if he pretended he was all in with Brooke, perhaps he actually would be... Things fell apart at the seams when Brooke wanted them to move in together, and Leo had to admit to her that he was leading her on and the truth was he was in love with some else. The relationship ended amicably enough, and when a few weeks later Brooke found out she was pregant they agreed to be friends and do everything they could to work together to raise their baby girl. Little Claire May is Leo's life now and he's not interested in any further romantic entanglements for the forseeable future.
Alex oh Alex... Alex is now a hot commidity in the world of public relations. She's an expert at twisting a point of view so the world only ever sees what she wants them to see, and its a skill she's employed both professionally and personally. Alex always knew, deep down, that she was in love with her psuedo-brother, she just was reluctant to face that truth because it complicated everything so much. A few years back she was almost certain that he felt the same way she did, but then he started sleeping around and Alex quickly lost count of the number of girls that quickly paraded in and out of his life. Watching that hurt more than she'd ever admit to anyone, even Rose, so when she met Ryan at a BBQ James hosted for a few of his colleagues a couple of years ago, she made herself available for the first time since she was a teenager. And then Leo met Brooke... And then they broke up but Brooke was pregnant... And now Leo's a Dad... and Alex felt like a red hot knife had been shoved into her heart and twisted. Ryan's a really nice guy and Alex knows he loves her, and she does love him as well in a way. He's safe.
And that brings us to Rose - poor Rose! Her life is wonderful, great job as a junior editor for a great publishing company, her own place for the first time, a few different guys she sees semi-regularly, amazing friends... the only thing that would make it better is if her brother and best friend would sort their stuff out! Rose had made it her mission in college to get them together, and she finally had made both of them realise their feelings but they're their own worst enemies. Instead of acting on their feelings they way Rose had hoped, Leo dealt with them by shagging every girl who wasn't Alex, which hurt Alex and she responded by giving up on Leo and dating Ryan, which spurred him to start dating Brooke, which made Alex try harder with with Ryan, which lead to Leo breaking up with Brooke having great break up sex which in turn lead to Claire, and Claire made Alex realise once and for all that she and Leo weren't ever going to happen... it was enough to make a girl scream in frustration, but it was also going to make an excellent plot for the book Rose is planning on writing about it!!!
As always, if there is any one child that gives Noah and Elena the most worry it's Isla. By some miracle they (with a bit of help from Mason!) managed to get Isla through high school unscathed and with a diploma. After high school Isla decided not to go to college and instead has been volunteering for the local animal shelter, and has picked up a job helping organise fundraisers to raise awareness for organisations against animal cruelty. She loves it. It was through one of these fundraisers that Isla met Aidan Bell, son of senator Robert Bell, and possible future political candidate. It was cheesy, but it was love at first sight. Isla & Aidan starting dating, even though neither of thier families really approved. Noah & Elena worried that Aidan was too old for her, that Isla would get hurt in the cut throat political environment, and Robert in turn worried that Isla wasn't 'suitable' and could one day hurt his sons political aspirations. They didn't care however - they were in love and their families could go jump! They'd only been together a few months when then found out Isla was pregnant. Aidan proposed immediately, he wanted Isla to be his wife eventually anyway, the preganancy just speed that up. They knew their families would object so eloped to vegas figuring their families couldn't do anything about it once they found out they were already married, and had a baby on the way. Sure enough, when they got back and told them they were livid, but things have settled down now and they're all trying to put their differences aside before baby Theo arrives.
Mase is a senior in highschool now, playing varsity football and has already secured a full scholarship to the university his of choice for next year. He can't wait! He's dated a few girls but is really just focused on football for now.
Willa on the other hand can't wait for Mase to be gone next year!!! Her whole high school career has been tainted because of him in her eyes. She's had a great ride definitley, but next year will be her year. She's going to be head cheerleader she's sure and with her scary big brother gone at last, she may even get a guy to ask her out!
