I really hate Jack, but I don't think it's too common or plain to be used as a full name. I would rather see it as a nickname, personally, but I'm sure the fact that I dislike it so much factors into that.
I like 3+ syllable middle names paired with 1 syllable first names:
Jack Theodore
Jack Benjamin
Jack Phineas
Jack Elijah
Jack Lionel
Jack Timothy
Jack Leopold
Just not Daniel. Jack Daniel is the only Jack combo I've seen more than once IRL. I know for sure that in once case, the parents like their J.D. and thought they were being funny.
