My mom's manicurist has a daughter named Nova -- she's probably 4 or 5 years old.
I don't like the name Nova. First, I think of supernovas, and then I think of smoked salmon. Then, I think of a joke my middle school Spanish teacher used to tell about how there was a car called the "Nova" and when they brought it to Spanish speaking countries it didn't sell because "no va" means "no go".
It would make a great name for a cat though, especially with the salmon connection.
