As Isla approached her first birthday, Noah & Elena decided that they wanted one more child. They had noticed the way James & Alex would go off together and play but because of the age gap between Alex & Isla, Isla was kind of left out of their fun and they really wanted to give their baby girl a sibling closer to her own age. They also secretly hoping to give James a baby brother too!
It didn't take long for Elena to get pregnant this time round and before they knew it little Mason had arrived. James was over the moon at FINALLY having a little brother and can't wait until he's big enough that James can show him all kinds of 'boys only' cool stuff. Alex had taken awhile to warm up to Isla when she was born, but this baby stuff was old news by the time Mason arrived and she didn't seem to have any problem adjusting.
After Mason, Noah & Elena had decided no more kids, 2 boys and 2 girls, their family was complete. So Elena was shocked to discover that she was pregnant again when Mason was only 2 months old! Once the shock of the unplanned pregnancy wore off however they got quite excited, they would have irish twins! Willa arrived happy and healthy and is a very sweet baby, the perfect final addition to their brood.
8 YEARS LATER!
Noah can't believe it... They just got the phone call and he's pretty much in shock. His college roommate, Tom Chancellor, a guy who James, Alex, Isla, Mason & Willa call 'Uncle Tommy', a guy who was the best man and Noah & Elena's wedding, and then Noah his, was gone.
Tom and his wife Mei had been coming home from dinner and a movie when they were hit by a drunk driver, they both died instantly. Tom had no close family, and Mei didn't want her American children to be raised by her family in China so years ago they'd asked Noah & Elena to be the guardian's of their 2 kids should anything ever happen to them, so now Leo & Rose are coming to live with them. Noah & Elena have done their best to prepare their kids so that they can all be the support system Leo & Rose are going to need, and are thankful that all the kids already know each other very well having grown up together. James & Leo are best friends, as are Alex & Rose. Elena suspects Alex has had a crush on Leo for years though, so she's planning on keeping a close eye on that situation now that Leo will be living with them.
2 YEARS LATER!
The Everhart brood has grown again, but in a most unexpected way. James & Ariel started dating when they were 16 and have been inseparable ever since. Noah & Elena love them dearly and they remind them of themselves in highschool. Noah & Elena got along well with Ariel's parents Findlay & Charlotte, so when the kids suggested that it would be nice for them to have dinner with both sets of parents one night no one thought much of it... Elena couldn't help but notice how nervous both James & Ariel were all through dinner however and had already assumed something was up, but nothing could have prepared her for the announcement that came when the 4 parents were enjoying an after dinner coffee - Ariel was pregnant.
That night was spent discussing between the 6 of them the hows, whys and what nexts of the situation they'd found themselves in. James & Ariel had made their intentions very clear however, they'd both graduate before the baby was born anyway and then they intended to get a place together, have their baby and raise their child the very best they could. Noah, Elena, Findlay & Charlotte were disappointed of course that their kids had been so careless, but were impressed at the maturity they were showing and promised to support them any way they could.
Ariel was 7 months pregnant when she and James finally graduated high school. They've got themselves a little apartment close to the local college where they will both take classes and continue their educations, and James has also started working part time doing construction work to help pay their way, though their parents still help out a lot. Their son, Finn James, is their pride and joy however and was named Finn after Ariel's Dad Findlay, and of course the Everhart naming tradition for the eldest son of the eldest son meant that James was the only possible middle name he could have had.
In other news, the family has lost a treasured member - Perry the border terrier has unfortunately passed away. Everyone was devasted but at the age of 16 he was a very old dog, though Elena still remembers him as that smelly ratty thing that followed James home one day. For the 14 years he was an Everhart however he gave nothing but love and playful energy and he will be sadly missed. The younger kids are keen to get another dog, but Elena isn't ready to replace Perry just yet.
