It has been five years.
Jay and Hayley's oldest grandchildren are now eighteen, making them feel a bit older than they did last year.
Jamie and Jim's kids are growing up. Lizzy is in her freshman year of college at a large state university. She is studying elementary education. Chris and Amy, 15, are making their way through high school. Chris is a star football player and Amy has a wonderful voice and sings in the choir.
Annie and Robert's large family is growing up too. Their eldest, Charlie, is 18. He is going to trade school to become an auto mechanic. He is engaged to his high school sweetheart, Julia, and the two plan to get married next year after he graduates. Nicky, 16, is an average kind of kid. He's into cub scouts and the military, and he joined his high school's ROTC program last year. Emma, 14, is a bookworm, and she is very smart. Joey, 13, is almost a carbon copy of his older brother--devilishly handsome with a brain obsessed with cars. Benji, 12, doesn't take after any of his older siblings. He is somewhat rebellious and likes the color black, death metal, and banging away on his drum set. Missy, 10, is an adorable, sweet little girl with no enemies. Jonny, 8, likes cars and being outside. Aaron, 5, has been shaped by his older siblings, no doubt about it. He is a car buff (even at 5), gets into all sorts of mischief, and is a little bit accident prone.
Noah and Bruna had a healthy little boy five years ago; however, there were some unexpected complications. Bruna began bleeding after Wilhelm was born and passed away sixteen hours after he was born. Noah took it hard--quitting his job and moving the kids back to the United States. For the first three years, they struggled to make ends meet. Then, Noah (and his kids) began to see a counselor to deal with their grief. Slowly, they've been moving back towards normalcy. Noah got a job with a Japanese company, and the kids stay with Jay and Hayley while he travels the globe once again. Adelina, 10, was just five when her mother died, but she is still feeling the impact. With her strong protective instinct, Adelina took care of her younger siblings while her father drowned in grief. She had a hard time letting her grandparents shoulder the responsibility once Noah opened up about Bruna's death and the impact it had on him. She is smiling more, now. Zella has only fuzzy memories of her mother, and she has learned to love living in the United States. She especially likes playing football (soccer). Wilhelm, 5, does not remember his mother. Fortunately, Noah does not feel anything but love for his son, and has never blamed Willy for his mother's untimely death. Willy is a happy child who lights up a room simply with his presence.
Laurie and John were fortunate to get pregnant almost as soon as they stopped using birth control. They now have two small children, Jackie and Eamon.
Ode and Lorraine were hoping to have just one more child to add to their family. When they couldn't get pregnant after three and a half years, they began using fertility drugs. The drugs worked on the first round, and, instead of one child, they had three! Laya, Lara, and Ayo were born seven months ago (2 1/2 months prematurely). They haven't suffered any lasting health problems, and the family is very busy caring for and getting to know their new additions.
Enitan graduated from med school four years ago and just recently finished his clinical rotation. He passed his board exam and making plans with his contacts in Africa to go there in a few months to begin work as a general physician. He and his wife, Olivia, were married six months ago in a simple ceremony. Olivia has known Enitan planned to return to Africa since they started dating, and she fully supports her husband's vision.
